COLUMBIA, S.C. –To help South Carolina artists build satisfying, sustainable careers, the S.C. Arts Commission is offering state artists up to $5,000 to launch new arts-based businesses through its S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative. Letters of intent to apply are due by Nov. 20. Guidelines are now available.
Proposals will be reviewed by an advisory committee composed of business experts and others. The selected projects will become part of a "virtual business incubator," which will bring grantees together three times each year for in-depth progress reviews by the advisory committee.
S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative is dedicated to improving conditions for S.C. artists by helping them develop knowledge and skills to build satisfying, sustainable careers. Responding to input from artists across the state, the Arts Commission is offering the following activities: artist gatherings, business training and start-up support for new arts-based businesses.
Artists interested in applying should contact Katie Fox, S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative program coordinator, at (803) 734-8767.
