COLUMBIA, S.C. – The S.C. Arts Commission welcomes Kim Harne as assistant director of the Arts in Education and S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative programs. In this position, she manages the agency’s Roster of Approved Artists and acts as a liaison between teaching artists, the agency and schools throughout the state.

Harne previously worked for the S.C. Department of Archives and History. While attaining her master’s degree in library and information science from the University of South Carolina, she interned with the S.C. State Museum and the Friends of South Carolina Libraries.

"Kim’s extensive experience in administration, arts and preservation will be very valuable in her work with our Artists’ Ventures and Arts in Education programs,” said Ken May, acting executive director of the S.C. Arts Commission. “She is a great addition to our agency.”

A South Carolina native, Harne took part in the first S.C. Governor’s School for the Arts’ five-week summer program. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University in speech and drama and participated in local and regional theater for two years.
