Roster of Approved Artists
For Theatre ONLY (Performers and Directors)
Note: Not an actor or director? See "How to Apply" for instructions in other disciplines.
Applicants working in Musical Theater must choose to be reviewed by the theater panel or the music panel. Separate applications may be submitted to both.
Please note: All artists applying for theatre performance or direction must submit video or DVD work samples. Those applications without such samples will not be reviewed.
There are three required segments of your application:
- OSCAR online application
- Printed copy of confirmation page, and work samples, to be mailed to the SCAC
- Application fee of $10, via credit card or check/money order, to be mailed to the SCAC
Your OSCAR Application
- Using the internet, go to culturegrants-sc.org
- Choose "Begin Here" to create an OSCAR account
- Fill out your basic information, after which you will be assigned a username and password
- Proceed to the Profile section
- In the section for "stage name," " please enter your actual name
- When complete, click "save profile information"
- Go to "Applications", and fill in mandatory fields
- You may submit your resume on this page by uploading it from your hard drive, or you may send a hard copy of your resume to the SCAC along with your support materials and application fee. If you are applying as a group, please upload a resume for the group. Individual group members’ resumes should be sent in hard copy form to the SCAC.
- When you have completed the page, save your work using the button at the bottom of the page, and then click to go to the next section
- The next page concerns work samples. Choose "Manage Work Samples," and then review the directions for submitting document samples. After reviewing the directions, choose the button labeled "Video."
- Complete a video submission page for each of 2 mandatory, contrasting work samples. Please remember, you will be unable to upload video samples. Videos/DVDs must be mailed to the SCAC. When you have completed a submission for both samples, choose "Applications" from the left hand column.
- Choose your roster application from the list of choices. When it opens, click "Work Samples" in the left hand column.
- In "Work Samples," be sure to select your videos by clicking the box in each sample’s information section.
- Move forward to the certification page. Review the certification and mark the check box.
- Move forward to the "Submit" page. Carefully review this page and complete its instructions (when reviewing your application, do not be concerned with the "sales price" information.) When complete, check the box to submit the online portion of you roster application.
- On the payment page, you may pay with check or credit card. If you choose to pay with a check, you must provide the number of the check that you are mailing to the SCAC.
- After submitting your payment information, you will receive confirmation, both onscreen and via email, acknowledging that your application is submitted. The final step in the application process is printing this confirmation page and mailing it, with your support materials (and payment, if paying by check or money order), to the SCAC.
Your Work Samples
- Printed copy of the confirmation page
- Group Resume, if you did not upload it in your online application; if applying as a group, resumes for each principal actor
- Video samples of two contrasting works. Work should be current (less than five years old).
- Directors: Video sample of you directing in rehearsal, matched with the corresponding final product (each portion of this sample should be 10-15 minutes in length).
- A SASE, if you wish your video samples returned
Payment
If you choose to pay with a check or money order, please label the "memo" line with your application number, and be sure to sign your check.
